Embrace homegrown goodness at the eight-annual Multnomah County Master Gardeners’ Incredible Edibles Plant Sale on Saturday May 11, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1624 NE Hancock St.
Give healthy new meaning to “Picking up something for dinner” with organic veggie starts and herbs for your home garden. With starts from the Incredible Edible Plant Sale, you’ll soon be harvesting nutritious, fresh-picked goodness for your table! The Incredible Edibles Sale offers a luscious array of local, organically-grown vegetable starts. You’ll find both heirlooms and hybrids among our proven varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuces, herbs and more. Varieties offered have been specially selected for their ability to thrive in our Pacific Northwest climate.
More than 270 varieties of veggies, fruits, herbs and flowers will be available. You’ll be able to fill your beds with these vigorous, organic vegetable starts that are proven producers for our region.
Vegetable varieties galore will be there for your picking! Tomatoes…Brandywine, Mortgage Lifter, Goliath Bush, Sungold, Juane Flamme, Principle Borghese! Peppers…King of the North, Nardello, New Mex Joe Parker, Lemon Drop, Shishito, Jalapeño Conchos, Jalapeño Goliath, Habanero Red and Thai Hot! Those are just SOME of the tomatoes and peppers alone!
Don’t forget to add some colorful sunflowers to attract beneficial insects, and bright and tasty annuals like nasturtium and calendula.
Bring your gardening conundrums and ‘Get the Real Dirt’ from OSU Extension-trained Master Gardener volunteers, who will be on site to answer your plant questions.
New to growing edibles? There will be lots of information and helpful Master Gardeners to get you started on successfully growing your own food. ‘Plant. Grow. Eat.’ workshops are scheduled throughout the day to inspire and provide education for new adventures in growing your own food.

10:30 am “Double the Herbs, Double the Flavor: Hearty Salads Re-imagined” Katherine Deumling of ‘Cook with What You Have’ shares
easy ways to brighten your dishes with your own home grown herbs.
11:15 am “Tips for the Beginning Veggie Gardener” Everything the beginning vegetable gardener needs for a successful growing season. Presented by OSU Extension Service Master Gardener, Robin Greenwood.
12:00 pm “Cooking Up the Harvest” Leather Storrs owner of Noble Rot offers inspiration for utilizing your harvest.
12:45pm “Container Grown Incredible Edibles” – Learn how to successfully grow edible veggies and fruits in containers and small garden spaces. Presented by OSU Extension Service Master Gardener, Dennis Brown.
1:30pm “Some Like it Hot” Learn the tips and tricks to grow a bounty of heat loving vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and squash, oh my! Presented by OSU Extension Service Master Gardener, Dennis Brown.
Kids Grow! Our Kids Grow tent offers fun hands-on garden activities! Learn how a seed becomes a plant! Plant a seed to take home and see it come to life! Explore a worm bin and look at insects up close!”
Incredible Entertainment! Fun, lively, musical entertainment will add to this celebration of homegrown goodness.

Incredible Inspiration! Local artist Joe Wirtheim, creator of the Victory Gardens of Tomorrow poster and design project, will offer his thought-provoking posters for better food, better gardens and better cities.
Incredible eats! Local food vendors with tasty and scrumptious eats will be serving at the event – so bring your appetite!

Proceeds from the sale further the work of the Multnomah County Master Gardeners and it’s mission to support the OSU Extension Service Master Gardener program, educating the public about all aspects of successfully and sustainably growing and caring for plants.
