**Growing Glorious Garlic

October is the ideal time to plant garlic in our region. Join our October Speaker Series and glean the best advice for growing garlic, as guest speaker Chip Bubl, OSU Extension Service, shares his expertise for growing a bountiful harvest of garlic. Chip will cover preparations for planting garlic including a bit on varieties, planting techniques and locations, fertilizer use, weed management, irrigation or not, disease and insects, harvest timing, and storage issues.

Chip Bubl has been serving OSU Extension Service and the community at large since the late 1970’s. Chip grew up in Corvallis, received his B. S. in Botany and Plant Pathology and M.S. in Horticulture. Early in his career he spent some time with a company that grew thousands of acres of onions and garlic for dehydration. Chip has been a valued instructor for Master Gardener classes since the mid-1980s and has led the Master Gardener training classes in Columbia County since 1988.
