Give a new meaning to “picking up something for dinner” with organic veggie starts and herbs for your garden. With starts from the Incredible Edible Plant Sale, you’ll soon be harvesting nutritious, fresh-picked goodness for your table! The Incredible Edibles Sale offers a luscious array of local, organically-grown vegetable starts. You’ll find both heirlooms and hybrids among our proven varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuces, herbs and more. Varieties offered have been specially selected for their ability to thrive in our Pacific Northwest climate.

Vegetable varieties galore will be there for your picking, including 54 varieties of tomatoes!  Slicers, cherry tomatoes, paste varieties and more! Come pick up a Brandywine, Beefstake, Cherokee Purple, Mortage Lifter, Goliath Bush, or Sungold (of course). Choose from 8 stellar varieties from the Dwarf Tomato Project. Peruse our 33 varieties of peppers. Grab some Thai Hot, sweet Carmen, Nu Mex Joe Parker or Big Jim for roasted chilis, Or try Fresno, Fireball and the sweet King of the North peppers. Don’t forget to check out a lush variety of herbs: 9 varieties of basil. Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme! Along with chives, lemon grass, shizo and more!

2024 Incredible Edibles Plant Sale – The Details

  • Sale date/time: Saturday, May 11, 10am to 3pm

  • In person sales only at 1624 NE Hancock Street, Portland

  • Capacity in the plant sale area will be managed with timed entries

  • Credit and debit cards, checks are accepted. No cash transactions.

  • Pets are not allowed at the sale. Thank you.

Entering the Plant Sale area: Timed entry to reduce crowding

To maintain a pleasant shopping experience a staggered entry system allows the maximum number of shoppers at one time without being too crowded.

  • Pick up a color-coded timed-entry wristband starting at 9:00 am at the SW entry.

  • Then instead of waiting in line, enjoy the Community Fair, presentations in the Plant. Grow. Eat. tent, listen to toe-tapping tunes, grab some tasty treats at our food and/or coffee vendors.

    Expect to have a bit of a wait to enter the Plant Sale area if you plan to shop during peak hours between 10am and 12noon.


Community Celebration…more than just incredible plant starts!

There is more than just lush, local, organic plant starts at the “Incredible”. Soak in our community celebration with gardening guidance from OSU Master Gardeners at our “Let’s Talk Plants” table or by attending a workshop at our “Plant. Grow. Eat.” tent, enjoy toe-tapping tunes, tasty treats, learn about valuable community-based organizations. Fun for all ages!

Bring your gardening conundrums to the “Let’s Talk Plants” table and get the real dirt from OSU Extension-trained Master Gardener volunteers, who will be on site to talk all things plants and veggie gardening.

New to growing edibles?
There will be lots of information and helpful Master Gardeners to get you started on successfully growing your own food. ‘Plant. Grow. Eat.’ Info Sessions are scheduled throughout the day to inspire and provide education for new adventures in growing your own food.

  • 10:00 am “Container Grown Incredible Edibles” – Learn how to successfully grow edible veggies and fruits in containers and small garden spaces.  Presenter: OSU Extension Service Master Gardener, Jessica Page

  • 10:45 am “Some Like it Hot” Learn the tips and tricks to grow a bounty of heat loving vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and squash, oh my!  Presenter, OSU Extension Service Master Gardener, Dennis Brown

  • 11:45 am  “Chef Inspired Harvest to the Table” Glean inspirational tips for bringing your harvests to your table in delicious ways. Presenter, Chef Jacobsen Valentine, founder Feed the Mass

  • 12:30 pm  “Herbs” Learn steps to cultivate a bounty of fresh herbs which you can then harvest and use to lift any dish you bring to the table.  Presenter: Xuan Sibell, OSU Extension Service Master Gardener

  • 1:15 pm   “Cauliflower. Cabbage. Aphids. Oh my! Learn the best tips to grow a prolific crop of any of the brassica family: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choi, etc. and how to keep those pesky aphids away. Presenter: Martha Mealy, OSU Extension Service Master Gardener

  • 2:00 pm   “Gardening with Pollinators” Learn how you can support pollinators in the garden and how those pollinators support your gardening efforts. Presenter: Eddie Rosen, OSU Extension Service Master Gardener


Kids Grow! Even the littlest sprouts can join the fun at our Kids Grow! tent which offers fun hands-on garden activities and discoveries for kids and their families!  Plant some seeds and watch them grow!

Incredible Entertainment! Fun, lively, musical entertainment will add to this celebration of homegrown goodness. Bop while you shop as you enjoy the music of the Sellwood PEAK Marimba Band, Possom Six-Pack, Rough & Ready and Sunfish Duo.

Incredible Inspiration! Get a dose of inspiration by visiting our participating community-based organizations and learn about their valuable work and ways you can support them.

Incredible Thought-Provoking Art! Local artist Joe Wirtheim, creator of the Victory Garden of Tomorrow poster and design project, will offer his thought-provoking posters for better food, better gardens and better cities.

Incredible eats!  Local food vendors with tasty and scrumptious eats will be serving at the event – so bring your appetite!

  • Salvador Molly’s Satisfy your hunger pangs and your soul with an eclectic mix of global flavors and some darn tasty tamales!

  • Carioca Bowls Portland’s first authentic açaí (ah-sigh-ee) café will be offering up delicious, organic açaí bowls topped with innovative, local and organic superfoods. Yum!

  • Where’s Coffee Girl? At the Incredible Edibles Plant Sale, of course! The Where's Coffee Girl full service coffee bar will be serving up premium coffee and delectable delights to fuel your day at the “Incredible”.
