How would you like to be privy to the wealth of knowledge and secrets to edible gardening success from a ‘Vegetable Whisperer’?  Here’s your chance, as Jen Aron, Beginning Urban Farmer Apprenticeship Program instructor, shares some of her most coveted secrets: summer direct seed sowing (carrots, spinach, beets, etc.), how to get the longest whitest leeks, post-harvest tips to prolong the storage life of your produce, Jen’s top three favorite tools and how to use them.  These are just a few of the insights Jen will share.

Jen Aron has served as a garden educator since 2009, teaching for OSU Extension, Metro, PSU, and the City of Portland.  Jen is currently an instructor for the Beginning Urban Farmer Apprenticeship Program, a seven month intensive farming program for adults. She manages the program’s one acre farm and oversees the program’s CSA and restaurant sales.  Jen is passionate about teaching and growing food and loves to incorporate plants that attract beneficial insects and pollinators into her fields to help keep the farm in balance.
