MCMGA Board Minutes for October 28, 2025

Discussions:

  1. Approval of August and September minutes

  2. Cynthia and Susan proposed bylaw changes. There are not a lot of changes to the bylaws but updates were done to ensure that duties are accurate and able to be fulfilled. One notable change - the Treasurer role would be moved to a 2-year term, from a 1-year term. Cynthia moves to send new bylaws to membership for voting in November. Lorna seconds. Cynthia is considering calling an open call virtual membership meeting to take questions about bylaw updates and seek feedback.

  3. The November meeting date has been updated to the first Tuesday in December (from 11/25 to 12/2).

  4. Jen holds a discussion of the 2026 budget. Currently, we have a net profit of 12k. Spending in support of our strategic plan and programming needs to align with our budget. Kim requires more information from OSU to understand how much involvement OSU will have in events like Seed to Supper amidst ongoing budget cuts. The High Yield Money Market Checking Account has been opened. If anyone is seeking reimbursement from MCMGA, please send those in as soon as possible

    so we can have an accurate financial picture for the end of the year.

  5. Cynthia discussed next year’s board positions. Cynthia and Carole are discussing with each board member about their plans. If you know of anyone interested in the VP position, please let Carole know so she can discuss with them.

  6. Angela Myatt provides an update on OMGA. The board discussed among other topics, the definition of a certified MG, Joy of Gardening 2026 (July 10-11), and possibly standardizing all MG programs to QuickBooks.

  7. Cynthia introduced Shannon and Lisa as admins for MCGA G-suite. If you need emails or passwords set up for MCMGA please get in contact with them. They are working to set up Google Drives for the committees.

  8. Kim provided an update about the Extension program. A working group is in progress to define what is an MG and to have a clear definition and recommendation for all counties. Fall recertification and community education classes are coming in November. All 2025 hours are due in VRS by October 31st.

  9. Linda provided a Demo Garden update. The garden is winding down but over 2800 pounds of fresh produce were harvested this season. They are beginning to plan 2026 workshops and have set a date for 2026 IE Sale - May 9th. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Linda and Carole.
